Flying Solo!

Dead Pixel No Comments

Sad but true, this week it’s only I, Paul who brings you the cream of the electrocrop, as G-Pix grabs himself some downtime.  Have you any idea how difficult it is to chunter on by yourself?  No, nor did I until this show, but, with any luck, you’ll forgive me.  For all the good things that happen, thank Grahame for his guidance, for all the bad stuff?  Blame me…or Canada…or Freddie Mac and Fanny Mae for all I give a hoot.

So, here it is in all its g(l)ory, Dead Pixel number 11, going out at all the usual times in all the usual countries, with just about everything you’d normally expect from a DP, except Grahame…oh, and much humour.  Zippy and George didn’t even visit this week and I didn’t have the opening to present my perfected Wall-E, but meh, maybe next week eh?

And yes, that *is* me up above.  Sorry.

We’re 10!!!!1!!11!one!!1

Elephant of Synth

Yes, that’s right.  We’ve finally reached double figures.  We would have been twelve if it hadn’t been for a misunderstanding and a mishap of microphonial proportions but you can’t have everything, can you?

Grahame and I are so glad you decided to stay with us, from the early days, through our very own middle ages via Trumpton, to arrive all sparkly and fresh at the other end.

If we’d been a little more clever, we could have told you how many words we’ve uttered, but we’re not.

As the Pixel that is Dead has evolved, we’ve gone (very cheekily I might add) from half an hour to last night’s epic one hour and fifty minute extravaganza (most people are happy with *one* vaganza, but Grahame and I like to have a spare, just in case.)

There are new shows in the pipeline, and we’ll continue to bring you what we think is the very best of electro in as many of its forms as we can find, but be sure to be on the lookout (listenout?) for our new weekly shows, which won’t all be about electro, there’ll be lots of stuff hidden in there, but mostly G-Pix and Pixel Paul doing what they do best…talk.  The name of this show?  Why, Off Topic of course. Did you expect any less?

Paint the whole world with a rainbow.

Hello viewers. Well blow us down, Dead Pixel is finally back after taking its broken microphone to the microphone-fixing-guy.

Episode 9 will be broadcast world wide (frightening thought) tonight from 8pm in the UK and the US. In a weird wibbly-wobbly-timey-wimey type way, it will also be broadcast in the US at 2pm and in the UK at 2am. Not that we want to confuse you or anything.

This episode is filled to the brim with fantastic electronic pop music. In fact, we’d go as far as to say that this fine, fine episode contains the best music we’ve ever played. And you know us… we wouldn’t lie to you.

So click on the Magic Geek Radio link, and enjoy the show. We’ll be thinking of you listening, and touching our special area…

Oh, and for British viewers, you might want to prepare yourself for a truly awe-inspiring Zippy and George moment at the end of this weeks show.

Enjoy!

Here’s what you could have won.

Isn’t You Tube marvellous? It’s certainly the saviour of every lazy blogger on the wonderweb.

Anyhoo. If you’re missing your weekly Dead Pixellation, we thought it might be nice to let you hear/see one of the tracks we would have played this week. Talk about cock-teasing, eh?

The above video is ‘Song Number One’ and it’s by a bunch of vixens calling themselves Serebro.

They’re Russian.

That’s right viewers, when they are not casually invading independent democractic states, they’re making bloody brilliant electro pop music!

This video is worth the entry fee if only for the wonderous Michael Jackson ‘a-thon’ that erupts about 2 minutes and 20 seconds in. *

Can you see now why we Paul and I are so heart-broken that Dead Pixel went wonky this week?

(* Please also note potentially the greatest lyric ever written, “Put a cherry on my cake and taste my cherry pie.” Genius.)

Crikey!

Dead Pixel No Comments

Hello. Oh dear, eh viewers?

No Dead Pixel tonight. “But why!?”, you all undoubtedly cry out in unison. A busted microphone. That’s why.

There we were, Paul and I, recording what was sure to be the finest episode of Dead Pixel, like, ever… An hour later it’s all in the can and everything is right with the world. Or was it? No, quite frankly. Because when it got to the ‘edit’ (technical term, you wouldn’t understand), your faithful servant (me), suddenly realised that every five seconds, there was a two second gap. Turns out the microphone is broken. We really should be checking these things viewer, shouldn’t we? I’m sure Billy T is disgusted with us.

So, 8pm comes and goes without brand new Dead Pixel for you to enjoy. Thankfully the wonderfully exotic Scott Magic Geek has put out a bit of a DP Mini-Marathon for all you new viewers to soak up. So it’s not quite so bad really, is it?

Needless to say Dead Pixel will be nipping out to PC World later this week to buy a new microphone.

Sorry viewers… truly.

Dead Pixel: Men We Love (Part 1)

Men No Comments

OK, so you’ve listened to Dead Pixel Episode 8 and you’re wondering to yourself, “Just who IS this Guillermo Diaz they kept banging on about?”. Well, dear viewer, cast your eyes on the above video and see the man himself being interviewed by the fabulous Chelsea Lately (another Dead Pixel favourite). Not only is this man sex-on-a-stick… he’s also openly gay.

And it’s for those reasons that Dead Pixel will be following this man’s career very closely indeed.

What’s not to love?

Guillermo Diaz listens to Dead Pixel, and so should you.

Hello!  It’s been a bit long since we updated our site isn’t it? We’re lazy like that. Comes from too much internet and console games.  But today is a very special day. Why? You need to ask? Because it’s Dead Pixel day!  Tonight from 8pm in the US and UK, you can listen to a spanking new episode of your favourite electropop/inane chat internet radio show!

Some fabulous tracks this week, and some totally random conversation - so you would be a fool to miss out. There’s nothing on television either. We checked.

This week we’re sending out the love to the sex god Guillermo Diaz…

Your Client is ready, sir.

Dead Pixel 2 Comments

Hello!  We’re back. And we’re back with a special episode.  Hurrah! If, like us, you are a fan of Client, then you’re in for a treat in tonight’s episode of Dead Pixel.

Clientb from said group has agreed to brave the world of Dead Pixel and grant us an interview. To mark this huge occasion, we’re dedicating the whole show to the music of Client. So if you weren’t a fan before, you certainly will be afterwards.

So, sit back and plug in the headphones for this episode…

You can hear Dead Pixel Episode 6 tonight at 8pm in the US and UK. And also 2am on Monday morning in the UK, and 2pm on Sunday afternoon in the US.  It’s all so bloody complicated, isn’t it?  Click on the link there at the side to listen (although there’s some tremendously complicated shoutcast thing going on, so good luck with that).

Failing that, check back later in the week and you can download the episode and listen at your convenience.

The future of electronic music…

Television 1 Comment

If you’ve just struggled through Episode 4 of Dead Pixel (well done!), you might have heard Paul and I become very distracted by an episode of Buck Rogers in the 25th Century.  Viewers, click ‘play’ on that video up there and you’ll see why.

It truly is a horrific vision of the future of electronic music…

Where do we sign?
